John began his career as an Apprentice Technician with ‘Babtie, Shaw & Morton’ in Glasgow, who are now part of the global engineering group, Jacobs. During which time he studied for, and successfully gained, ONC and HNC qualifications in Civil & Structural Engineering.
After completing his apprenticeship with Babtie’s, John took an unexpected leap into the world of mezzanine floors and materials storage solutions with the industry-leading manufacturer, Keith Hancock Structures. The move from a life in a busy city centre to the rural idyll of Hampshire was, it’s fair to say, something of a cultural shock. Though, it couldn’t have been too much of a shock, as he still lives in the same area, but now with his wife and their three children.
John has gained a wide experience in the storage solutions general office fit-out industry, having worked for both manufacturers, and interior solutions providers. His most personally satisfying projects include providing the mezzanine platform for a new production assembly line for the C-130 Hercules for Lockheed in Georgia (USA), and a full warehouse and office refit for a west London TV & Film props supplier. As John’s career progressed he took a more active role in management, and in 2008, successfully qualified with a ‘Master of Business Administration’ (MBA) degree from Southampton University.
John’s experience and knowledge greatly helps in the development and continuance of relationships with clients; ensuring substantial volumes of repeat business which perfectly fits with the ‘Space Industries’ customer focused culture.
Away from work, John likes spending time with his family, and supporting his children participating in judo and football, mainly. He also enjoys watching football – as a very keen supporter of Celtic – and going to gigs to see his favourite bands (some old, some new) and favourite comedians (mainly old).
